30 Days of Thanks 20

As I am cleaning and getting ready for Thursday’s celebration, I am reminded that all the work and points that could be stressful are really things we should be thankful for… our ability to celebrate and to feed our family (21 this year… potluck thank goodness) the food that I will prepare for us to share with our loved ones… the house I am able to clean to host our celebration (a: because I am healthy and able to clean b: because we have a home to call our own) and instead of feeling grumpy or overwhelmed, I just feel really fortunate and thankful and I thank the good Lord for helping me keep an attitude of appreciation. In years past I might have been stressed or exhausted by now but this year I’m just really grateful for the opportunity to be with our family and enjoy a celebration.

30 Days of Thanks 16

I must admit, since starting my family, my typical reading has consisted of scrolling through FB and shuffling through stacks of children’s books… thankfully I have been served brilliant advice, endless entertainment, and wisdom… in both arenas… who can argue with things like…

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re…

on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…” or “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!” or “I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.”

Undeniably brilliant words from an individual filled with pure genius that has remained unsurpassed and who was as unique as a snow flake but managed to find a way to connect to so many of us… generation after generation.

Day ~ 16 Today I am thankful for Dr. Seuss and all the joy and inspiration he has brought into my heart and my home

30 Days of Thanks 15

The sound of fallen leaves crunched under our feet, the dew sparkled in the morning sun as it shined across the front lawn, the air was wet but still crisp reminding me that winter is almost here. The sky is a bright and calming sea of blue filled with big fluffy clouds that my little one swore looked like birds and alligators and even a pirate ship and as we walked, we talked, he skipped and hopped, and I smiled… and we held hands all the way to school.
